I remember when I was a kid, I asked my dad what was his favorite color and he said brown. I couldn’t get that…how can he pick brown if we have such amazing colors like pink and purple? Ages later, when the brown became one of my favorite colors, well, I get it now 😉
I was obviously a girly girl with a dollhouse and Barbie girls, purple and pink were my top pick, until the age of 8, when I started to mix painting colors and used them to dye my hand nails in all possible tones I could imagine. For mixing colors I used small plastic kitchenware for kids and brushes. Probably my favorite colors were all which can be found in a rainbow.
That changed in my high school time. I was more in a rock scene – black color, jeans, Allstars, and guitar music. Well, I am still fond of rock vibes and have 2 pairs of Allstars in my wardrobe, but black is not my daily color pick anymore.
My favorite color is definitely blue, in the second row of my favorites list are brown, turquoise and green.
When opening my wardrobe, it looks more or less like this palette below. I pretty much love everything except red and orange. When in doubt, you’ll always convince me with natural tones – that explains why I like brown as well (wood, autumn leaves, soil).
Also in art, I have similar choice, sometimes I challenge myself to go out of my regular themes and do more contrasting variations. I arranged some examples for you and picked out the most representative colors of each artwork.
I hope you got some ideas how to combine colors in your home or when starting new creative projects. I totally enjoyed making a post about colors on this grey, winter day.
It’s all about balance and harmony for me, so I believe my art will always speak to you in such way.
Best wishes to all! Hope your 2018 started brightly!
