Monday is a good day to make a DIY project. Creativity elps to develop imagination, strengthens the motivation and increases concentration. It is also super fun and you can also make beautiful decoration for your home.
My paintings are usually connected with texture. This time I didn’t make a painting, but a frame for it. It is really a simple task, all you need is some glue and acrylic colors.
I used two cardboards (you can use a wooden base also) and cut out two squares, dimension 15×15 cm (6″x6″).
One cardboard was for the basis and the other for the frame. For frame I made 2,5 cm (1″) wide edge and cut out the central part.
Between the basis and frame, you can later place your artwork, photo, positive thought or some picture, that you like.
On the frame surface I sketched a simple motif. I decided for floral pattern. You can try with spirals, dots, lines or any other decorative elements.
For the texture you can use a glue, thick paint or gel contour. It is important that those layers are thick, so the structure is vivid. Let the glue to dry completely.
When this semi-finished porduct is dry, paint it with the selected color or combination of similar shades. Paint all the surface. On the edge add some darker color to give an impression of depth.
For finishing layer use a sponge. Mix a darker color of the shade, you used for the frame and gently tap around the surface. I also used some gold color to give more sophisticated look.
The last thing to do is choosing an artwork, that will be framed. and glue all together. Don’t forget to add a small hanger on back.
I took different calligraphy classes in my hometown last year. I used that knowledge and made a handlettered quote that says “World is yours”. That is a Slovenian song, from one of my favorite singers here, it has very positive lyrics. For decoration I drew a wreath with golden leaves 🙂
I wish you fun, sunny and colorful week!
